_**Note:**_ The main feature of Photoshop is layer-based editing, which enables you to take elements and composite them together. You can also paint on an image directly. To use layer editing, the image must have some kind of background, meaning that it's a Photoshop tutorial for beginners that you'll find in bookstores. As you become familiar with the various tools and methods for adjusting photos, you will be able to take Photoshop to the next level. As you develop your skills, you will eventually want to use it on projects that involve many layers, such as for complex retouching.

Photoshop's layers allow you to move, copy, and duplicate them, arrange them, change their opacity, and erase portions of them. You can also apply filters to the layers, change the blending mode of a layer's contents, and layer mask that layer for easy access to editing. Later in this chapter, I give you some tips and pointers for making images look more polished using the various tools found in Photoshop.

The primary features and tools of Photoshop include the following:

• **Layer tool:** Drag the layer from one area of the image to another. The Layer window appears in the toolbox on the right.

• **Free Transform:** Click the area you want to resize, and the Transform tool appears in the toolbox on the right. Click-drag in the toolbox to resize the area.

• **Move:** Drag the photo to a new position.

• **Free Transform:** Click an area and drag it to change its size.

• **Control+T:** The Photo Collage dialog opens with the same tools as the Photo Collage tool, discussed in the later section "Creating a Photo Collage."

• **Modify:** Click the tool in the left toolbox to use it on an image's layer. Click the layer to apply the tool. Click the layer again to make changes.

• **Watercolor tool:** Click the tool in the left toolbox to use it on an image's layer. Click the layer to apply the tool.

• **3-Dimensional (3D) tools:** Click the tools in the left toolbox to use them on an image's layer. Click the layer to apply the tool.

• **Mesh:** Click the tool in the left toolbox to use it on an image's layer. Click the layer to apply

After you snap a picture, the natural reflex is to want to remove any sort of red eyes or strange shaped objects in the photo. Although this can be achieved with a simple photo editing software, Photoshop makes the process easy and fun.

Not only can you remove any unwanted objects in your photo, but you can also make your photo more interesting by removing red eyes, eye bags, and strange spots.

These are the main tools in this category:

Red Eye Remover

Red Eye Remover is one of the most advanced red eye removers available. Besides removing red eyes, it also reduces the thickness of the eyelid so that you don’t have to spend time editing it out of the image.

Why do you need to specify a fanilieu when calling a function?

I'm curious as to why you need to specify the namespace when using the ::operator. If, for example, you have the following function:
namespace A{
void someFunction();
void someOtherFunction();

Then you can call them like so:
A::someFunction(); //Which works well.

Some people use a '::'operator to tell it where to look for the function in another namespace:
A::::someFunction(); //Is also accepted. Why do you need to do this?

They're redundant and noisy.

Because they're redundant: it can't hurt you unless you have an A::someFunction in a global namespace instead of a local namespace (which is a compilation error). It's like class members: they're only available in the local namespace where they're declared.
Because they're noisy: it looks like you're trying to import some_function_name from the global namespace, when you're only trying to call it in the local namespace.

In vitro antitumour activity of a new, biodegradable, non-cytotoxic family of ruthenium complexes.
Inhibition of cell growth is a major therapeutic goal in oncology. The well-known cytotoxicity of many ruthenium compounds may limit their clinical utility. This study assessed the cytotoxicity and antiproliferative activity of a new class of ruthenium complexes. Three new ruthenium complexes were synthesized, and their cytotoxicity and antiproliferative activity evaluated. The first and second ruthenium complexes belong to the previously reported class of carboxylate-bridged complexes containing two amine-functionalized phosphine ligands. The third compound is a tri-amine-functionalized ligand containing a carboxylate moiety to yield the final product. The amine-containing ruthenium compounds were shown to be highly cytotoxic against human cervical carcinoma HeLa cells as well as human breast cancer MCF-7 cells. In contrast, the tri-amine-functionalized compound is significantly less cytotoxic than the other two compounds. The antiproliferative effect of the ruthenium compounds was assessed against HCT116, a colon cancer cell line, and primary CD8

Wrong data entry in array

I am trying to use the array I have in the code below. It seems that I am getting wrong data at times. Is that normal?
Thank you very much for any assistance.
