Working with layers

Layers are a special type of layer. You can add and remove layers. They allow you to manipulate and improve the images and presentations of your images. Layers are like folders in your computer.





You can work with groups of layers, working on a particular image, or with multiple images in one file.

This means that you can easily see what is currently visible. To add a new layer, select the layer you want to add in the layers panel or press Ctrl+Shift+N on your keyboard. If you want to add a group of layers, select several layers in the layers panel and press Ctrl+G.





You can then work on these images separately. You can add, change, or remove layers using the tools in the layers panel.

While a tranquilizer is typically associated with a relaxing, sedating and anti-anxiety effect on the central nervous system, a similar type of medication actually makes both men and women feel more sexually aroused, according to new findings.

Sexually inactive men, women and couples with low sexual satisfaction responded favorably to sedating antidepressant treatment with the compound baclofen, according to results of a double-blind, placebo-controlled study conducted at the IU School of Medicine and published online June 1 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

The authors wrote that since the mental state of persons with sexual problems is often characterized by significant anxiety and negative affect, baclofen may be helpful in increasing sexual pleasure and satisfaction.

"Baclofen is a muscle relaxant that is used to treat muscle spasms, but there are reports that it may also increase desire in women, so we were interested to see if men also respond to this drug," said corresponding author Jeremy Larrivee, Ph.D., a postdoctoral scholar in the IU Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.

"Our results suggest that with treatment, individuals respond to this drug in two ways," Larrivee said. "When it came to psychological measures, we found improvement in problem-solving skills and personal agency. In sexual behavior measures, they had greater sexual desire, arousal, frequency of intercourse and frequency of orgasm."

Larrivee added that the researchers were particularly interested in the effects of baclofen on women since low sexual pleasure is so common in older women, who are often losing desire due to side-effects of estrogen replacement therapy.

"Many in this population have had chronic gynecologic conditions and may have normal or better-than-normal scores on standard psychological measures, but still have low sexual functioning," he said. "So to see how often baclofen might help these women, even if they do have certain psychological measures in the right direction, was a fairly novel idea, and was the basis of our study."

In the study, men and women received either a capsule of baclofen or placebo daily for four weeks. They completed validated measures of sexual problems, problem-solving skills, personal agency, sexual arousal, desire, frequency of sexual activities and frequency of sexual gratification.

Studies on the interaction between folic acid and some drugs: The results of an immuno-assay and LC-MS analyses.
The present study aimed to perform an "in vitro" determination of the interaction between folic acid (FA) and some common drugs by means of an immuno-assay (IA) and liquid chromatography coupled with high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS). We used 3 microL of a water/acetonitrile/formic acid solution (2:1:1 v/v) as the extraction solvent for the detection of the FA and its corresponding protein binding fraction (PB) by means of IA (competitive immuno-assay). For the first time, the results of the single-laboratory validation showed a desirable accuracy and precision for the proposed method (Intra-Assay Variation ≤ 1.33%; Inter-Assay Variation ≤ 5.83%).
