# Document and File Formats

The three major file formats that are supported and expected in the graphic design industry are:

* **JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group):** This is the most commonly used raster image format and is used for many web graphics and other graphics for both commercial and consumer purposes.
* **GIF (Graphics Interchange Format):** This is a compression format that is used for web graphics and some vector graphics. It does not support transparency.
* **PDF (Portable Document Format):** This is a text-based document format that supports transparency, and it is used for most print graphics.

You can use almost any image-editing software to convert files from one format to another, but Photoshop is the most common one used in production for this type of work.

## Changing File Formats

It's a good idea to always save your files in the most common format for their intended use.

However, the entire toolbox is there, the base layers are the same (though, unlike with Photoshop, the command-line tools are much more difficult to navigate in Photoshop Elements). It’s basically a cheaper alternative to Photoshop.

You can find it on Amazon or start a free trial. There’s no in-app purchases, you’ll have to buy a license for Photoshop, though you can get them for a little bit cheaper that you can in Photoshop.

There are two versions of the software:

After this tutorial we will be using the latest version 11.1 of Elements. Some of the commands and options in Photoshop Elements are a bit different, so if you work with these, you might want to check out the resources below for some tips.

There is not much difference between the two versions but they work very differently. Photographers tend to prefer the older version, but it lacks the performance of Elements 11. Most of the tutorials I’ve found were written for the newer version.

All the same, I’m going to guide you through Elements 11, so let’s get started.

How to download Photoshop Elements

Photoshop Elements 11 is available on the App Store and Google Play. You can download the latest version of the software for free.

1. First of all, download the latest version of the software from the App Store or Play Store.

2. You will need to be signed in to your Google or Apple account in order to purchase the license.

If you do not have one, you can create one by clicking on the Create one button on the App Store.

3. After you’ve installed the software, you will need to create an account.

4. Sign in to your account and unlock the software. You can check the license you purchased under the Purchases tab on the App Store or Play Store.

Important: After downloading the software from the App Store or Google Play Store, you will need to activate it.

5. You can go to File > Activate from the main menu. Select either the Apple Activation or Google Activation option in the drop-down menu. Your license will show the activation option you selected.

You can save and load paths to use them with other images.
Photoshop includes layers, which are groups of the same type of elements such as text, a circle, or an image. Layers help you to keep your image organized so that you can work on different elements without affecting other elements.
With the help of layers, you can work on a background layer and apply the same techniques to other layers for different elements.
Photoshop is not limited to just raster images. You can work with vector images. Vector images are made up of lines, curves, and shapes.
You can use the shape tools to create vector images. The line tools are used to draw curved lines, while the curve tools are used to create geometric shapes.
You can use the area tools to create selections. The selection tools include the marquee tool, lasso tool, and magic wand tool.
All of these Photoshop tools can be found in the Toolbox.

With a mouse and a keyboard, you can quickly and easily perform various tasks in Photoshop. You can open images or create them. You can work with the tools that come with Photoshop or you can download additional tools.

Bad news, everybody. Fresh off killing off his beloved in a botched execution and less than three months after they began serving together, Tommy Wiseau has officially lawyered up. TMZ caught Wiseau in a public bathroom yesterday and the actor has agreed to shell out all costs related to his get-tough arrest, including a $100 daily flat rate fee for jail time. From the looks of it, he won't be sleeping in the bunks of San Francisco County jail.


After a tipster called authorities last night after spotting Wiseau in the bathroom, cops contacted the actor and asked to speak to him. Police say Wiseau told officers that he had been at the men's bathroom for a long time and doesn't know where his belongings are.

Wiseau has been booked and charged with misdemeanor public intoxication and has until noon today to either post bail. If he fails to do so, he'll be held in the county jail until then, if he posts it by phone or mail, or if he posts it via email it can be paid as late as 5 p.m. daily. If he pays it in person, it can only be paid if he visits the jail at 4 p.m. and appears in person and in person, no phone calls, emails or mail. He also must give his address and phone number when asked.


After his arrest, Wiseau agreed to a $100 a day flat rate to stay in jail if he fails to post the $4,000 bail. The only exceptions are if he can prove he's "too sick or unable to pay."

Wiseau hasn't been seen on camera since the death of the '60s playwright or any public appearances. We don't know exactly what he was trying to cover up in the bathroom, but with the help of 100 bucks per day, he might be able to buy himself some cologne.
