# **Using Photoshop's Features**

This section explores the Photoshop features essential to the photographer's workflow. You will learn how to use Photoshop for retouching, compositing, and image manipulation as well as explain how to fine-tune and color correct images using Photoshop.

The following diagram (Figure 4.1A, page 20) illustrates the interface.

The first image is the original image, and the Photoshop Image Browser window, found in the Window menu, opens. The next image is a three-image stack, with the original layer highlighted. In this image, you see that one image is placed on top of another image, and a third is placed on top of the first image. You can select these three images from the Image Browser window and create an adjustment layer containing these three images. You can see that the Adjustment menu contains only one option, Perspective, but it contains the equivalent of eight tools (see Figure 4.1A.2). After you make any adjustments to the topmost image, you should update the other images. Unfortunately, this image is only three frames deep. You could create a new image, place the original image on top, and then you could place the other two frames on top of that layer.

Here, too, you can see three layers in the Photoshop Image Browser window. You can again select these three layers and adjust their values. If you edit multiple images, you can save the adjustment settings, so you do not have to adjust each image manually. After you have made any

Installing Photoshop Elements 15.0.1

Photoshop Elements 15 is available for download directly from the Adobe web site for Windows and macOS operating systems. To install Photoshop Elements 15.0.1 on Windows, follow these steps:

Download and run the installation file from the Adobe website. Before starting the program, right-click on the downloaded file and select the option Run as administrator. After the installation finishes, you can run Photoshop Elements 15.

As soon as you start the program for the first time, the Welcome window appears where you can choose your language and product. Click Next to continue to the next step.

Next, select the version of Photoshop Elements. Select Photoshop Elements 15.0.1 and click Next.

Continue by selecting if you want to install the software for the first time or not. Click Install and the installation will start.

On the next screen, you can choose whether to install the software for the first time or not. Click Install.

After the installation finishes, Photoshop Elements will start.

When you have installed Photoshop Elements 15.0.1 for the first time, the first time you start Photoshop Elements, it will tell you that it has to verify some data. If you want to continue, click Yes to finish the process.

Choose Customize on the next screen. After you click Next, you can choose whether to use the default settings or to import a custom configuration.

If you want to use the default settings, select Set as default and click Finish. If you want to use a custom configuration, select Import a custom configuration and click Continue.

Select the type of installation. Choose Install. After the installation finishes, you can use Photoshop Elements 15.0.1.

I have data in the following format, which is already pre-processed:
