How to get value of POST from input tag using Spring MVC

I am using spring-MVC for a web application.
In this application I have a form where two fields are in a input tag and i have to get the value of those two fields.
The fields are grouped together in a div and have a set and a button.
I tried using @RequestParam, but did not work for me.
The actual result which is returned is just empty string instead of what is in the HTML textbox.

A synthetic isoprostane analog, U-60,257, was assessed for toxicity in the neonatal rat model. Total body weight gain, changes in the level of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and differential counts were assessed. Metabolic effects were assessed by evaluating changes in the levels of plasma free fatty acids, triglycerides, lactate dehydrogenase and plasma glucose and by assessing the 24-hr food consumption and the ability of rats to respond to a challenge dose of 2 mg/kg of D-amphetamine sulfate. Growth, blood cell parameters, lactate dehydrogenase and plasma glucose changes were normal in the treated animals. Methaemoglobinemia occurred in some animals. Food intake and locomotor activity were unaffected by the treatment. The effects of U-60,257 on central nervous system development were evaluated by measuring neuronal differentiation in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus as measured by the total number of cells in the dentate gyrus, the number of cells in the subgranular zone and cells in the outer neuropil, and the number of cells with pyknotic nuclei. The number of new cells in the dentate gyrus and the number of cells in the subgranular zone were unaffected by treatment. There was a significant increase in the number of neurons in the outer neuropil. Pyknotic nuclei were only observed in the dentate gyrus of the animals treated with 600 mg/kg U-60,257. Animals treated with the dose of 1000 mg/kg had an extensive pyknosis in the dentate gyrus, with a greater than 50% reduction in the total number of pyknotic nuclei. This level of pyknosis was not observed in the animals treated with 300 mg/kg or 600 mg/kg U-60,257. There was no significant effect on spatial performance in a water-maze task or in the acquisition of a place learning task.
