Drawing is often more than just a hobby. Certain drawing techniques used in computer-assisted art instruction help the student master artistic skills that can be applied in a broad array of fields. The techniques you learn about in this chapter are easy to master and help you sketch in any medium — from pencil and charcoal to ink and other kinds of paint. You may find that you enjoy drawing more than other artistic endeavors because drawing helps you better understand the world around you.

## Getting Started with the Pencil Tool

In this section, you find out how to sketch in a variety of media — from soft pastels to hard and pencils. In addition to using the Pen tool to sketch straight lines and shapes, you discover how to add effects to your sketches by overlaying and blending different layers in an image. (Details on layers are found in Chapter 8.)

You can draw a lot with the Pencil tool, but you have to practice a few things to make the most of it. For example, to create seamless lines with the Pen tool, press the Pen down on a drawing tablet or drawing surface to create a line, and then release the tool to unmake the line. To break down lines that aren't seamless, you can use the Eraser tool on the painting palette or with the Brush tool in Expert mode to erase lines that you don't want.

In this chapter, you also master drawing the center of mass, an important subject in many art programs. The center of mass is a key concept in mass-media programs, such as photo editing and graphic design programs, but in many art programs, it's covered briefly in the Materials overview rather than having individual chapters devoted to it.

Editing images in Photoshop is easy and can be done in any order. In Adobe Photoshop Elements, you can choose from a large library of tools from editing to coloring, crop, more editing, or even more.

I will be using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 for my example, but most of the concepts can be applied for Photoshop as well.

The same things I listed in Photoshop Elements can be used in Photoshop too, but you have to open the new file in the Photoshop.

What Are The Steps For Image Editing In Elements 2020?

Below are the steps you have to follow for better image editing in Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020.

Step 1: Open the image

Click on File > Open and navigate to the folder where your image saved.

Check the “Open After Opening,” and click on “Open”.

Step 2: Adjust the Image Size and Location

The current screen will be opened where you can see your image files. There will be three options, there is a small triangle icon. Click on it.
