## Selecting and Preparing Photographs and Images

Photoshop is an image-editing program that you use to fix, enhance, or completely change the appearance of an image, which you then save in a new file. You can edit an image of a person, a landscape, or a still life; you can even use one of your _web albums_ as a blank canvas. Your pictures aren't limited to just the kind of objects you'd normally select to photograph, either; with Photoshop, you can mix and match objects from _any_ of your images to put together a new composition.

Using the web albums that you set up for the purpose of organizing the images that you want to create, you can drag image files from your computer's hard drive or a flash drive into Photoshop. You can then use those images as the background for the individual layers in the Edit Layers window.

Scalable Vector Graphics

Elements now supports vector graphics that can scale to any size without quality loss with features and quality improvements designed specifically for the vector graphics format. This support enables you to use new Adobe illustrations in layers in place of graphics, add vector graphics to your documents, use vector graphics in documents, and output vector graphics to PDF or EPS.

Selection tools

The new selection tools provide a more precise and dynamic edge selection experience for Photoshop Elements.

Mask and selections

To better manage selections and masks, you can edit selections and masks together with the same features on a single layer. As an example, it is now easier to add and remove elements from a single selection. You can also group selection layers, and in the collection panel, you can rearrange layers as a group.

Find and Replace

You can use the "Find and Replace" tool in the Edit menu to edit a range of pixels in an image. The algorithm finds color information that you specify and replaces it with specified values.

Face selection

The new Face Selection tool allows you to select multiple faces and delete them together. (Also available in Photoshop CC 2018.)

Vignette adjustment

Adjust the shape of the vignette effect as a layer in any image.

Speech bubbles

The new speech bubbles tool allows you to insert speech bubbles and add characters, backgrounds, and effects.

Alignment tools

Use the new layer grid and align layers panel to align layers.

Markup panel

The new layers panel offers more controls for managing layers, including the ability to create groups of layers, duplicate and move layers, and remove layers.

Metadata

Harald Jenssen

Harald Jenssen (7 August 1927 – 14 September 2014) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party.

He was born in Byåsen as a son of fishing inspector Odd Jenssen (1889–1954) and Meta Nordskog (1891–1967). He was a brother of Odd Jenssen Jr.

He was a member of Buskerud municipal council from 1970 to 1974 and of Luster municipal council from 1975 to 1981. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Buskerud in 1981, but was not re-elected in 1985.

These three are a highly important part of Jungian psychology.
The Role is the actual person played and the Action is how he or she plays it.
The Symbolic Motif is the accompanying pattern of the Action or Role.
In the Symbolic Motif there is often a struggle between two opposing forces, two complementary opposites or a contrast in experience, but there is a definite type of'mental content' that is carried by the figure.
The Role is a fact. It is the person I am in a situation and, in a sense, I am that person in the ordinary day to day life.
The Action is often unconscious and if it is an unconscious action

Let's have a look at the steps involved in adding a bevel to a card.

Step 1: Create a new layer and fill it with black.

Step 2: Draw a box or circle on the black layer using the Pen Tool, or the Rectangular Selection Tool.

Step 3: Fill the box or circle with a grey tone.

Step 4: Move the box or circle to the left or right until it is positioned as shown in the image.

Step 5: Using the Pen Tool, draw a horizontal line as shown to make the circle transparent.

Step 6: Using the same tool, draw a vertical line to make the circle visible.

Step 7: Use the Eraser to remove the horizontal line in the circle. This will show the underlying card.

Step 8: Fill the circle with black to bring back the card beneath it.

Step 9: Select the area of the card that you want to have a bevel added to.

Step 10: Go to Filter > Other > Bevel & Emboss.

Step 11: Give the bevel a suitable size.

Step 12: To add an embossed effect, go to Filter > Distort > Wave.

Step 13: Use the slider to adjust the size and position of the embossed wave.

Step 14: Go to Image > Adjustments > Curves and adjust the brightness and contrast of the image to taste.

Step 15: Layer > New > Layer or File > New makes sure that you have a new layer ready for the next step. Go to Layer > Flatten Image to merge all the layers in the image and create a new image.

Step 16: To add a background, select the new image you just created, go to File > Place and select a suitable place for your card. You can drag and drop it anywhere you like.

Step 17: To set the background, select the Black & White option from the Adjustments panel or go to the Black & White Filter.

Step 18: Change the mode from Grayscale to Sepia or Monochrome or Color to suit your taste.

Step 19: Go to Layer > New > Layer or File > New to make a new layer and paint with a suitable colour and brush size.

Step 20: To create a more realistic look, use a soft, round brush or a soft pen tool to paint on a faded
