Ansifilter can help you strip ANSI codes from text documents on your computer and convert them to other formats in a convenient manner. It parses common ANSI codes in order to remove or convert them to other colored text format and features support for ANSI art files.
Among the supported output formats, you can find HTML, BBCode, Pango, RTF, LaTeX or TeX. This provides you with a broad range of possibilities.
Features command line utility
This application comes in two "flavors," one with a Graphic User Interface (GUI) and one that can be operated through the Command Prompt. The one with a GUI is quite simple and lets you open files, copy the contents to clipboard, select the output format, enable ASCII art, assign a title, change the encoding, modify the line wrap value and choose the font.
The CMD one provides you with a large set of features that can be called through arguments. These can modify the output text formats, file names, encoding, font faces, titles, wrapping, parsing, ANSI art width and height and font size.
Lightweight ANSI code parser
To wrap it up, Ansifilter is a lightweight, portable application that can help you parse ANSI codes in order to edit or convert them to other colored text formats. It comes in two versions: one with a GUI and one that's operated through CMD and can be used even by novices.

Let me start off by saying that this tool is very simple to use, as you just have to choose an output format and target text document/folder location and Ansifilter will take care of the rest.
With that said, here is a brief description of the tool.
To start stripping ANSI codes, you just have to select them from a dropdown menu and then click the "Copy ANSI codes to clipboard" button. Then you can use the "Click here to open the original document" button to open a text file or paste it into a document.
If you would like to convert the copied codes to other text formats, you can select the output format and then click the "Convert the text to" button. On its own, this will convert the text to HTML, Rich Text Format, (RTF) RTF logo, BBCode, Pango, LaTeX, LyX or TeX format, depending on the selected option.
However, if you would prefer to convert the code to other colored text formats such as ansi art, click on the "Convert to" button and then select the appropriate option from a dropdown menu.
You can choose between bi-color, single color, multicolor, bi-contrast and single-contrast ANSI art, as well as choose the color that will determine the background of the art. You can also choose the art ratio, that is, the height-to-width ratio of the art, which is expressed in a percentage.
Last but not least, you can also assign a title for the art, change the default line wrap value of the art and change the font size of the art, to name a few.
As you can see, this tool is not only versatile, but also very simple to use.
Commands Ansifilter commands and usage
Once you have used the program, you might want to use it on a regular basis. If that is the case, you can create a shortcut to the tool in your computer and use it just by clicking on the link that Ansifilter puts in your System Tray. On doing this, the program will be downloaded and installed in your computer.
If you want to use the tool at work, you can simply connect your USB flash drive or external hard drive to your computer and use the tool from any directory on it. In that case, you can find the tool in c:\Ansifilter.
